Demand-responsive minibus service

On Monday 4th January 2021, Warwickshire County Council, in partnership with the charity Warwickshire Rural Community Council (WRCC), are launching a brand-new demand-responsive minibus service to assist those of all ages who are unable to access public transport in Rugby and its borough for whatever reason. It's being operated under the Council's 'IndieGo' brand and builds on the Coleshill and Atherstone iterations set up towards the beginning of 2020.

The wheelchair-accessible vehicles will make a number of set journeys into and out of Rugby at key times from villages in the borough surrounding the town, and outside of these times it can be booked for journeys to work and back, GP/Hospital visits and for shopping and leisure. Wherever possible, it'll pick up and set down at points chosen by the passengers within Rugby or one of the three zones it operates from. Registration is required and all bookings are made by phone to a dedicated call centre. An online booking facility is also currently in development.

It'll operate Monday to Friday from 7am until late and in most cases it can be booked on the same day. Fares are just £4.00 single, £6 return and Concessionary Passes are accepted in-line with the current terms and conditions. Child fares are also available.

Three liveried vehicles all complying with Covid-19 regulations will operate from three different zones to the north, west and south of Rugby.

Buses have been central to ensuring that Key Workers and NHS Staff, amongst many others in Warwickshire, have been able to continue accessing workplaces and shopping etc during the pandemic, and the introduction of these new services will further enhance that.

They've been funded following a successful application to the Government Rural Mobility Fund.

A comprehensive marketing campaign is under way and further details are available on the Council website Buses page. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. A supporting leaflet is being produced and if you let me know how many copies you may need (we have an initial limited run of 2000 but can print more) along with an address and we can send them to you.

Yours Sincerely
